Title: | The Internet and Higher Education Special Issue on the History of Online Learning. |
Authors: | Scigliano, John A. |
I think the site is credible, the author has been any many articles in the site,peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed and seems to be a legitimate and reliable source.

Title:Internet and its effects on education
Author:Coles,Bobby
URL:http://www.helium.com/items/2302738-the-effects-of-the-internet-on-education
I don't think this is a very credible source but the article written is very relevant to the search and although I don't believe the author is an expert in the field or had has his article reviewed by peers I do believe this is one of the best sources for a dot com site considering anyone can post anything about any subject with dot com unlike the other domains.

Title: Anthropology and International Education Via the Internet: A Collaborative Learning Model
Author: Tomoko Hamada and Kathleen Scott
URL: http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/t/text/idx/j/jep/3336451.0006.105?rgn=main;view=fulltext
I believe this source is a very credible, the article is peer reviewed with supporting data like statistical evidence, survey data, tons of research finding, interviews, hypothesis and conclusions, and very well written by people who are obviously experts in the field.
Search 4 (.org)
Title: The Internet fast lane for research and education
Author:Jamison, J. MCI, Reston, VA. Wilder,R.
URL:http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.jsp?tp=&arnumber=568211&url=http%3A%2F%2Fieeexplore.ieee.org%2Fxpls%2Fabs_all.jsp%3Farnumber%3D568211
I believe this source is credible because its peer reviewed and sponsored by a major player in the internet world, essentially sponsored by the guys who made wi-fi.The article may be pretty old and may not relate to current issues but once I took a look at the sponsor I knew it was a credible source.
Conclusion:After doing this assignment I've came up with the conclusion that if your looking for credible sources, that .edu or .org would be your best bet.Mainly preferred to .edu because the information that showed up was the most relevant and most peer-reviewed and always showed some type of supporting data to back up their claim. The .com though is the least credible because that's what the average joe uses instead of the experts and anyone can post up any type information they want, whereas the .edu has a type of restrictions towards that so that only credible educational information goes through, not just anything by anyone.
Hi, Tyler:
ReplyDeleteThank you for your efforts and report on your open web domain specific research. You seemed to locate credible, reliable sources and evaluating using ASPECT can help in the future. I tend to agree with your summary, but you should have a criteria that helps you determine whether the website is relevant and reliable.
Cheers,
Andrea
